Boos Ring Out for Trump and Infantino at World Cup Final Ceremony

Fans booed when U.S. President Donald Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino entered the field for the World Cup trophy ceremony on Sunday at the New York New Jersey Stadium. Spain defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win the World Cup. Argentina played part of the match with 10 players. The booing stopped when Trump and Infantino gave medals to the players and coaches. They later presented the World Cup trophy to Spain. President Donald Trump arrived at the stadium by helicopter. He stood with the Spain team on the winners' podium before moving aside so captain Rodri could lift the World Cup trophy. Earlier in the tournament, Trump was involved in a major controversy. He called FIFA President Gianni Infantino and asked him to review a red card given to U.S. striker Folarin Balogun during a group-stage match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Balogun's one-match suspension was cancelled, allowing him to play against Belgium in the Round of 16. However, the United States lost the match 4-1.
