## Spain Beats Argentina 1-0 to Win 2026 World Cup
Spain defeated defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday.
Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in the 106th minute, giving Spain its second men's World Cup title after its first victory in 2010.
Spain's strong defence was one of the best in the tournament. The team allowed only one goal in eight matches, setting a new World Cup record for the fewest goals conceded by a champion.
The loss ended Lionel Messi's dream of winning a second World Cup title. After the match, Messi left the field in tears and accepted the runner-up medal.
With this victory, Spain became the first country to hold both the men's and women's FIFA World Cup titles at the same time. The Spanish women's team won the Women's World Cup in 2023.
