July 23, 2026 • 04:48 AM
The European Union (EU) says it will continue supporting justice reforms and transitional justice in South Sudan.
Speaking in Juba during the International Day of International Criminal Justice, EU Chargé d’Affaires Lothar Jaschke said a fair and independent justice system is important for peace, democracy, and protecting people's rights.
He said the EU supports the International Criminal Court (ICC) and works to ensure those responsible for serious crimes are held accountable.
The EU is also funding programs to strengthen transitional justice in Africa, support victims, involve young people, and help improve the rule of law in South Sudan.
