South Sudan Gets First UNESCO World Heritage Site

South Sudan has achieved a historic milestone after the **Boma–Badingilo Migratory Landscape** was added to the **UNESCO World Heritage List**, becoming the country's first World Heritage Site. The protected area is home to the world's largest land animal migration, with around **six million antelopes** crossing the landscape every year. It also supports rich wildlife, wetlands, and forests. The government said the recognition highlights South Sudan's unique natural heritage and its commitment to protecting wildlife and the environment. Officials believe the UNESCO status will attract international support for conservation while creating new opportunities for local communities. They thanked UNESCO, African Parks, local communities, and development partners for helping make this achievement possible.
