Western Equatoria Launches Voter Education Campaign
August 5, 2026 • 06:30 AM
Authorities in Western Equatoria State have launched a civic and voter education campaign ahead of South Sudan's planned 22 December 2026 general elections.
The campaign aims to educate residents about voter registration, voting procedures, and their right to vote.
Governor Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa said the state government is committed to providing security and ensuring peaceful, free, and fair elections. He added that Western Equatoria is ready to support the electoral process.
Election officials and civil society groups welcomed the launch and called on the national government to provide enough funding and logistical support for the National Elections Commission.
South Sudan is preparing to hold its first general elections since gaining independence in 2011.
