JUBA, South Sudan — October 7, 2026
South Sudan and Ethiopia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening diplomatic relations and regional cooperation following a meeting in Juba.
South Sudan’s Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Cecilia Adut Manyok, met Ethiopian Ambassador Delil Kedir Bushra to discuss areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Ambassador Bushra congratulated Manyok on her appointment. The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional peace and security concerns.
The engagement comes as the two neighbouring countries continue efforts to improve cooperation and stability in the Horn of Africa.
South Sudan and Ethiopia have previously discussed collaboration in trade, infrastructure, energy and border security. However, no new agreement or specific implementation timetable was announced in the latest report.
The meeting highlights the importance of diplomatic cooperation between Juba and Addis Ababa amid wider regional security challenges.
