JUBA, South Sudan — October 1, 2026
South Sudan’s state-owned Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet) has launched a digital transformation project aimed at improving connectivity, security and information management across its operations.
The project will connect Nilepet’s headquarters in Juba with branch offices through an upgraded enterprise network. Plans also include improved internet connectivity and an IP-based telephone system to strengthen communication between offices.
Another part of the initiative will upgrade security at Nilepet facilities through IP-based CCTV cameras and centralized electronic access controls. The company also plans to establish an ICT data centre with resilient power infrastructure and migrate its email and collaboration systems to Microsoft 365.
The project includes staff training, technical documentation, system testing and a formal handover to Nilepet’s internal ICT team. Earlier reporting in July indicated that Nilepet had already completed a first phase of high-speed internet connectivity upgrades.
The initiative represents another step toward digital transformation in South Sudan’s oil sector, where technology is increasingly being used to improve communication and operational management.
