JUBA, South Sudan — October 7, 2026
The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) has installed new equipment and renovated its central laboratory in Juba to improve product quality and safety testing.
Central Laboratory Director Wilson Wani Leju said the improvements would help restore testing services after years of limited operations caused by inadequate equipment and maintenance problems.
The laboratory is expected to resume full operations on October 8, following difficulties dating back to 2017.
The facility tests imported and locally manufactured products, including food and consumer goods, to help ensure they meet South Sudan's safety and quality standards.
The improvements could strengthen consumer protection, support businesses and improve confidence in products sold across Juba and other South Sudanese markets.
The development is part of wider efforts to modernize South Sudan's product testing and quality-control systems.
