CEPO Welcomes Voter Education Campaign
July 29, 2026 • 05:09 AM
The Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), Edmund Yakani, has welcomed the National Election Commission's (NEC) nationwide voter education campaign ahead of the planned December 2026 elections.
Yakani said the campaign is an important step in preparing citizens to vote. However, he stressed that peaceful elections require more than voter education. He called on political leaders to create a peaceful environment where people can vote freely and safely.
He also urged the government to resolve legal issues, provide enough funding for the election process, and strengthen security across the country.
Yakani warned that ongoing political and security tensions could affect preparations for the elections. He encouraged leaders to choose dialogue, peace, and cooperation to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.
The NEC launched the campaign in Juba under the theme **"Your Vote is Your Future."**
