Kiir Appoints Addis Ababa Othow as New Central Bank Governor

President Salva Kiir has appointed Addis Ababa Othow as the new Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, replacing Johnny Ohisa Damian.

The appointment was announced in a presidential decree on Wednesday. No reason was given for the change.

Othow previously served as governor before being replaced by Ohisa in 2025. He returns to lead the central bank as South Sudan continues to face economic challenges, including rising inflation and pressure on the South Sudanese pound.

The Bank of South Sudan is responsible for managing the country's monetary policy and regulating the financial sector.
